From his perch high in the Tree's crown, the lonely æglet spotted a curious blue stranger far below. Oh, how he envied him—standing in the shade with the glorious stream just steps away!
If I shout, might he hear me?
Loneliness gripped him. Its iron hand compelled him to lean out, dangerously far, readying himself to call out to the alien figure.
SNAP!
The branch gave way. He flapped his meager wings to no avail. Terror clamped icy talons over his throat as he plummeted, and he forgot to breathe.
Then he struck the bower floor—crashing into a stand of grass mere feet from the startled stranger below.
